Top 5 Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps in the Middle East - Q2 2022

In the second quarter of 2022, the top 5 carpooling and ridesharing apps in the Middle East experienced varying trends in downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of these apps on a unified platform (iOS and Android).

Uber - Request a ride saw a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 60K at the end of March and dropping to approximately 43K in early April. Downloads peaked at 71K in the week of May 2 and ended the quarter at about 62K. The app maintained a robust weekly active user base, growing from 1.43M at the start of the quarter to around 1.48M by the end of June.

Careem – rides, food & more experienced a steady pattern in weekly downloads, beginning with about 54K in late March and reaching a high of nearly 56K in early May. The quarter closed with approximately 49K downloads. Active users for Careem saw a slight decline from 747K at the end of March to around 624K by the end of June, with periodic fluctuations throughout the period.

Bolt: Request a Ride showed consistent growth in weekly downloads, which started at around 29K in late March and peaked at 46K by the end of June. Active users increased steadily from approximately 152K to nearly 193K over the quarter, reflecting a positive trend in user engagement.

Jeeny - جيني had a steady increase in weekly downloads, beginning at about 28K in late March and reaching a peak of 35K in mid-June before ending the quarter with approximately 34K downloads. Active users saw a gradual rise from 126K to about 143K during the same period.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver maintained a stable trend in weekly downloads, starting with around 11K at the end of March and reaching up to 13K in early June. The quarter concluded with about 12K downloads. Active users showed minimal fluctuations, beginning at approximately 59K and ending the quarter at around 61K.
